WVU Football Enters Battle for 2026 4-Star OL
In the midst of worrying about the current roster and looking to the transfer portal, the WVU football staff is also sending offers to high school recruits. And on Thursday, West Virginia extended an official offer to a stud four-star offensive tackle.
The Mountaineers are hoping 2026 Tampa Bay, Fla. native and Tampa Bay Tech product Canon Pickett will anchor their offensive line of the future. Pickett revealed his WVU offer on social media and offered a simple “extremely blessed to receive an offer from West Virginia University!!” as the caption to his post.

Pickett has already become a popular recruit despite having another season of high school football left. He has offers on the table from programs of all levels, most notably Power Four schools like Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kansas, Louisville, LSU, Miami (FL), Michigan, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, SMU, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M and UCF. Group of 5 programs like FAU, Toledo, Tulane and USF have also offered Pickett.
The 6-foot-5 and 310-pound interior offensive lineman is considered a four-star prospect by both Rivals and 247 Sports. He’s firmly ranked within the top 50 players in Florida and top 30 offensive lineman in the country.
