WVU Inks ESPN 4-star DE Akheem Mesidor

The West Virginia football program received a welcome surprise on Wednesday morning.

Akheem Mesidor, an ESPN four-star, 247 and Rivals three-star defensive end in the class of 2020, signed with WVU after having not previously been committed to the school.

The six-foot-three, 250-pound defensive end played at Clearwater Academy International high school in Clearwater, Florida. Mesidor becomes the third defensive end in Neal Brown’s 2020 class after Taurus Simmons and Sean Martin.

A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Mesidor chose West Virginia over Pitt, Syracuse, UCLA and Georgia Tech. In all, Mesidor had received 29 scholarship offers.
