Today is the early signing period for 2020 football recruits. West Virginia is expected to sign several recruits today. WVSN will update this story as the recruits sign throughout the day.

**Junior College defensive tackle Quay Mays has signed with West Virginia. Mays (6-foot-2, 290 lbs.) is a three-star defensive tackle from Bradenton, Florida and played at Northwest Mississippi Community College. Mays is a highly-rated junior college prospect. Rivals has Mays as the 30th best junior college prospect in the nation and 247Sports has Mays at 65th. 247 also rates Mays as the sixth-best junior college defensive tackle in the nation. Mays verbally committed to WVU on July 9. He also had offers from USF, Charlotte, Louisiana-Monroe, South Alabama and UCF.

**Georgia wide receiver Sam Brown has signed with WVU. Brown (6-foot-3, 185 lbs.) was originally committed to Central Florida before re-opening his recruitment on Dec. 12. Brown is a three-star prospect from Savannah, Georgia who picked up offers from Florida, Georgia and Ole Miss following his de-commitment from UCF. West Virginia made Brown’s original top-10 prior to his commitment to UCF.

**Michigan wide receiver Devell Washington has signed with West Virginia. Washington (6-foot-4, 215 lbs.) is a three-star receiver from Bay City, Michigan and played at Arthur Hill High School. Washington is a top prospect from Michigan, 247Sports has him as the 17th best Michigan prospect and Rivals has him at 15. 247 has Washington as the 94th best receiver in the nation and Rivals has him at 65. Washington verbally committed to WVU on August 1. He also had offers from Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue, Toledo and Western Michigan.

**European cornerback Jairo Faverus has signed with WVU. Faverus (6-foot, 190 lbs.) played at Bristol Academy. 247Sports rates Faverus as the top prospect in the United Kingdom and the 83rd best cornerback in the 2020 class. Faverus verbally committed to WVU on June 18. He had other offers from Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Kent State, Minnesota, Penn State and Temple.

**Tairiq Stewart, an offensive line prospect from ASA College in Brooklyn, has signed with WVU. Stewart verbally committed to WVU on Dec. 16. Originally a Cleveland, Ohio, native, he will have three years to play, two at the Division I level. Stewart (6-foot-5, 318 lbs.) is rated as a three-star prospect and the 11th best junior college offensive line prospect by 247Sports. He is also rated as the 28th best junior college player by Rivals. In addition to WVU, Stewart held scholarship offers from Boise State, Maryland, Old Dominion, Southern Miss, Tennessee and UTSA.

**Sean Martin, a three-star defensive end from Bluefield, West Virginia, has signed with WVU. Martin (6-foot-6, 260 lbs.) is ranked as the top high school player in West Virginia by both 247Sports and Rivals. He had previously been committed to North Carolina before decommitting and flipping to West Virginia on Dec. 1. In addition to WVU, Martin held 24 scholarship offers: North Carolina, Penn State, Purdue, Baylor, Connecticut, Duke, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Marshall, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, NC State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Temple, Utah, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

**The first unexpected signee of the day is defensive end Akeem Mesidor. Mesidor (6-foot-3, 250 lbs.) is a three-star recruit from Clearwater, Florida. Mesidor had offers from Georgia Tech, Pitt, Syracuse, UCLA, Buffalo, Colorado State, UConn, FAU, Georgia Southern, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Maryland, UMass, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Toledo, Tulane, UCF, Virginia Tech, Washington State, Western Kentucky and Western Michigan.

**Missouri pass rusher Lanell Carr has signed with West Virginia. Carr (6-foot-3, 230 lbs.) is a three-star prospect from St. Louis and played at De Smet High School. Carr is rated as one of the best prospects from Missouri. Rivals ranks Carr number 13 in Missouri and 247Sports has him at 14. Position-wise, Rivals has Carr as the 34th best in the nation and 247 has him at 48. Carr verbally committed to WVU on June 16. He had offers from Rutgers, Arkansas, Colorado State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Kent State, Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, Louisville, Maryland, Memphis, Syracuse, UCF, Virginia Tech, Western Kentucky and Western Michigan.

**Florida quarterback Garrett Greene has signed with West Virginia. Greene (6-foot, 181 lbs.) is a three-star dual-threat quarterback from Tallahassee, Florida. He played at Chiles High School. 247Sports has Greene as the number 19 dual-threat prospect while Rivals has him at 20. 247 has him as the 76th best prospect in Florida, Rivals has him at 68. Greene was one of West Virginia’s first recruits in the 2020 class, verbally committing to WVU on March 7. Other than WVU Greene had offers from FIU, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Alabama, TCU, Temple, Troy, UAB and USF.

**New Jersey offensive guard Chris Mayo has signed with West Virginia. Mayo (6-foot-5, 300 lbs.) is a four-star guard from Hightstown, New Jersey and played at The Peddie School. Mayo is one of the best prospects from New Jersey and one of the best guards in the nation. Rivals ranks Mayo as the 10th best prospect in New Jersey and 247Sports has him at 13. Rivals has him as the 13th best guard in the nation and 247 has him at 22. Mayo verbally committed to WVU on June 22. He had offers from Kentucky, Purdue, Arizona State, Auburn Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, Tennessee, Virginia and Wake Forest.

**Junior College cornerback Jackie Matthews has signed with West Virginia. Matthews (6-foot-1, 180 lbs.) is a three-star cornerback from Pinson, Alabama and played at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. 247Sports ranks Matthews as the 106th best junior college prospect in the nation and the 15th best junior college cornerback. He verbally committed to WVU on November 24. He also had offers from Arkansas State, Charlotte, Marshall, Old Dominion, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, UAB, UCF and Western Kentucky.

**Maryland athlete David Vincent-Okoli has signed with West Virginia. Vincent-Okoli is a four-star athlete from Gaithersburg, Maryland and played at The Bullis School. Vincent-Okoli played wide receiver and cornerback in high school and will play cornerback at WVU. Vincent-Okoli is rated as one of the best prospects from Maryland. 247Sports ranks him as the 12th best Maryland prospect and Rivals has him at 13. 247 has him as the 21st best cornerback prospect in the nation and Rivals has him at 35. Vincent-Okoli verbally committed to WVU on June 16. He had offers from Maryland, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, UConn, East Carolina, Kent State, Kentucky, UMass, Temple and Toledo.

**Daryl Porter Jr., a three-star cornerback from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has signed with WVU. Porter, who attended American Heritage School, is ranked nationwide as the 77th best cornerback by Rivals and the 140th best cornerback by 247Sports. Porter (5-foot-11, 168 lbs.) committed to West Virginia on Dec. 11. Other schools that extended Porter a scholarship offer include Utah, Washington State, Baylor, Boston College, Brown, Buffalo, Charlotte, FIU, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Marshall, Minnesota, Northern Illinois, Ole Miss, Oregon State, Penn State, Rutgers, Southern Miss, TCU, Toledo, Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky.

**Georgia pass rusher Taurus Simmons has signed with West Virginia. Simmons (6-foot-3, 210 lbs.) is a three-star prospect from Savannah, Georgia and played at Jenkins High School. Rivals had Simmons ranked as the 89th best prospect in Georgie, 247Sports rated him at 125. Simmons verbally committed to WVU on July 8. He had other offers from Coastal Carolina, Colorado, FIU, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Kansas State, South Alabama, Troy, Tulane and USF.

**Offensive guard prospect Jordan White has signed with WVU. Coming from DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland, White (6-foot-3, 295 lbs.) is rated as the state’s 27th best prospect by 247Sports and the state’s 24th best prospect by Rivals. White had previously been committed to the University of Maryland before de-committing in November and flipping to WVU on Dec. 15. White chose WVU over offers from Maryland, LSU, Massachusetts, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Virginia and Wisconsin.

**New Jersey tight end Charles Finley has signed with West Virginia. Finley (6-foot-4, 215 lbs.) is a three-star tight end from Wayne, New Jersey and played at De Paul Catholic High School. Rivals has Finley as the 25th best prospect from New Jersey, 247Sports has him at 28. 247 also has Finley as the 62nd best tight end prospect in the nation. Finley verbally committed to WVU on August 16. He had other offers from Boston College, UConn, East Carolina, Maryland, UMass, Pitt, Rutgers, Toledo and Western Michigan.

**Kentucky Wide Receiver Reese Smith has signed with West Virginia. Smith (5-foot-11, 175 lbs.) is a three-star receiver from Danville, Kentucky and played at Boyle County High School. Smith is regarded as one of the best recruits from the state of Kentucky, 247Sports has him as the 10th best Kentucky recruit and Rivals has him as number seven. Rivals has Smith as the 66th best receiver in the national and 247 has him at 132. Smith verbally committed to WVU on March 7. He had other offers from Ball State, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Tennessee, Troy and UAB.

**West Virginia native Zach Frazier has signed with West Virginia. Frazier (6-foot-2, 277 lbs.) is a three-star center from Fairmont, West Virginia and he played at Fairmont Senior High School. Both Rivals and 247Sports rank Frazier as the second-best prospect in the state. Rivals has Frazier as the seventh-best center in the nation and 247 has him at 12. Frazier verbally committed to WVU on June 20. He had other offers from Louisville, Marshall, Stanford, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
