Perhaps lost in the news that West Virginia has parted ways with Director of Athletics Shane Lyons is a piece of positive news from the football program as quarterback Garrett Greene has been named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.

Greene entered midway through the game against Oklahoma and led West Virginia to a 23-20 victory, their first over Oklahoma since joining the Big 12. Greene completed 12 passes in 22 attempts (54.5%) for 138 yards and a touchdown while also adding 119 yards and two touchdowns rushing.

Greene has traditionally been used as a utility man, entering in set packages that showcase his ability to mostly run and catch the ball. As of now, head coach Neal Brown has declined to name Greene as the starter at quarterback for the team’s game this week against Kansas State.
