WVU Volleyball Falls in Five Sets Against Visiting K-State

The West Virginia University volleyball team opened the home portion of its 2020 schedule with a 3-2 loss against visiting Kansas State on Thursday.

The Mountaineers (1-2) dropped the opening set 25-21 before taking the next two 25-17 and 27-25. K-State (2-1), however, slipped past WVU in the final two sets 26-24 and 15-13 for the win.

Natali Petrova and Kristin Lux led WVU with 17 kills each, while Briana Lynch chipped in with 16 kills. Alexa Hasting led the Mountaineers with 16 digs in the loss. For Kansas State, Jayden Nembhard led all players Thursday with 24 kills while Mackenzie Morris finished with 18 digs.

The Mountaineers and Wildcats will play again Friday in Morgantown. That match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
