WVU Basketball Recruiting
2022 C Shawn Phillips Jr. To Make Commitment on Wednesday
One of West Virginia’s targets for the class of 2022 in Shawn Phillips Jr. will be announcing his commitment on Wednesday.
Phillips put WVU in his top three, alongside North Carolina State and Ole Miss on Aug. 28. Phillips is ranked a three-star by 247Sports, coming in at No. 147 in the country.
Jamie Shaw, a national basketball reciting analyst for Rivals, has picked Phillips to commit to NC State over West Virginia. Shaw put this prediction in on Sept. 15.
There is no commitment time announced yet for the 6-foot-10 center from Arizona.
If Phillips does decide to commit to the Mountaineers, Bob Huggins and his coaching staff will have a great core for the class of 2022. Josiah Harris and Josiah Davis are currently the two commitment recruits for 2022. Harris is a three-star, while Davis has not been ranked. With those two, the Mountaineers rank 57th in the country and seventh in the Big 12.
