Drake transfer Tucker DeVries committed to West Virginia on Thursday morning during Darian DeVries’ introductory press conference. Tucker will join his father, Darian, who was named WVU’s head coach on Sunday.

DeVries said “who will be joining us here for his senior season” after mentioning his son at his introductory press conference.

Tucker officially entered the transfer portal on Wednesday and immediately emerged as one of the best players in the transfer portal. DeVries was listed No. 1 in the country by CBS Sports and No. 3 by EvanMiya.

Tucker is a 6-foot-7 junior who averaged 21.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists for the Bulldogs this past season. DeVries shot 44% from the field, 36% from three and 81% from the free throw line. DeVries is a back-to-back Missouri Valley Player of the Year, as well as an All-MVC team recipient in all three years of college basketball.

Tucker has one year of eligibility.

Darian and Tucker DeVries would become the first father-son duo at West Virginia since John Beilein and his son Patrick in the 2000s.

DeVries becomes the first transfer commitment for West Virginia this offseason.
