Morgantown, WV – After a successful 2018 season for the Mountaineers Heisman contending quarterback Will Grier, the Heisman voters left him off of the finalists list that was announced just moments ago on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown.

Grier finished the 2018 regular season completing 266 of 397 pass attempts with 3,864 yards and 37 touchdowns. He was also named to the All-Big 12 2nd team and a finalist for the Maxwell Award which is handed out to the nations top player.

Major Harris was the last Mountaineer invited to the ceremony in 1989 and finished 3rd in the voting. The Mountaineers have never had a Heisman winner and that drought will continue with Grier not being invited to New York.

The Heisman Trophy ceremony will be aired on ESPN on December 8th at 8 p.m. ET. The three Heisman finalists are Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa, Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray and Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins.
