Cam Cook, Expected to Carry West Virginia’s Rushing Attack | WVU Football All 105

Full aware of the pressure and expectations, Cam Cook is confident he can take the WVU offense to new heights in 2026.
A confident Cook explained his mentality and why he holds himself to a very high standard after spring practice on Monday, March 30. On the heels of being the nation’s leading rusher in 2025, Cook feels ready to be a featured back in the Big 12 again.
“I’m going to do whatever it takes to help the team,” Cook said about his role as a Mountaineer. “I’m going to do whatever it takes to help us get to where we need to go. Last year, they asked me to do a lot, and I did whatever the team needed.”
And following one season stepping down a level with Jacksonville State, as Cook put it, the senior star running back appears poised to show he belongs in the Big 12 as a focal point of an offense.
“I have changed a lot since then,” responded Cook when asked how he’s changed since starting his college career at TCU.

Last Year: Cook ran for 1,659 yards for an average of 5.6 yards per carry and scored 16 rushing touchdowns.
Stats: Cook tallied a staggering 1,659 yards to lead the nation in rushing at Jacksonville State last season. He was also No. 2 nationally with 149.6 average in all-purpose yards per game.
Post-Camp Outlook: Not having to prove much to earn the RB1 role, Cook was eased into the spring practice period. But he also showed his coaches the type of workhorse he can be. Cook also spoke about he’s more ready to dominate in the Big 12 than when he started his college career at TCU.
Projected Role: Among the few players crowned a starter before the spring got underway, Cook will be heavily relied upon to carry the bulk of WVU’s rushing attack as the featured back.
