Finley Bizjack Lands on Prestigious Watch List Honoring Jerry West
Joining Miles Sadler for national recognition, WVU basketball senior guard Finley Bizjack made the cut to open the season on the annual Jerry West Award Watch List.
The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced the 20 watch-list candidates for the 2027 Jerry West Award on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
The annual Jerry West Award, named after the West Virginia legend and the late Class of 1980 Hall of Famer and 1959 NCAA Final Four Most Valuable Player, celebrates its 13th year by highlighting the top shooting guard in NCAA Division I menโs college basketball.
โI feel like easily Iโm just, like, a scorer. Thatโs what Iโve done for most of my college career, and what Iโve prided myself on is just being the best scorer that I can possibly be,โ Bizjack said in a press conference on Thursday, July 30.
Bizjack joined WVU in April after playing all of his three prior seasons at Butler, where he carved out a role for his entire tenure. In the 2023-24 season, he earned a spot on the Big East All-Freshman Team after averaging 4.2 points per game while appearing in all 33 games.
As a sophomore, Bizjack broke into double-digit scoring with 10.3 points per game. In his final season at Butler, his production truly picked up when he led the Bulldogs with 17.1 points per game which was third in the Big East. His efforts earned him a spot on the All-Big East Third Team.
Bizjackโs stellar scoring performances included 11 games of scoring 20 or more points with a season-high 30 points against Providence. WVU fans will also be glad to hear that Bizjack finished last season shooting 85% from the free throw line while shooting 90% in conference play.
Bizjack is no stranger to showing up in the big moments, making splash plays as early as his freshman year with his season-high 19 points against No. 10 Marquette. As a sophomore, he hit six three-pointers en route to 30 points against Boise State in the 2025 College Basketball Crown.
