Gambler’s Corner: Week One

Published

on

We’re BAAAAACK. For better or worse, we are back for the second season of Gambler’s Corner, which can only mean one thing. It’s time to lose you some money.

I mean help you win money.

So, let’s jump right into it.

Hot Picks of Week One

West Virginia (-10) versus Tennessee (Charlotte, NC)

Let’s go ahead and get this one out of the way. High-powered offense versus a reeling Tennessee defense that will be plugging in two true freshmen in the corner positions. Advantage, Will Grier. Even if the Vols’ offense finds a way to put up 30-40 points, the Mountaineers have too much firepower to not win by at least two scores.

Central Florida (-24) at UCONN

I actually like this pick a bit more than I do the previous one. The Huskies allowed over 500 yards per game last season and its offense was just as miserable. On the other hand, the Knights put almost 50 points per game in 2017 and return just about everyone on offense and defense. If you thought UCF truly deserved a spot in last year’s College Football Playoff, wait until you see what they do this season.

Washington State at Wyoming (over 45)

I feel like I’m missing something here. I’m suppose to believe a Mike Leach coached Cougars team can’t hang at least 30 points against Wyoming? I understand the Cowboys defense is the unquestionable strength of its team but they’re not built to slow down one of the most high-powered offenses in college football. I guess it could be a “suck bet” after all.
