Geno Smith Rated Just Outside Top 10 Quarterbacks in Madden

The NFL career resurgence of Geno Smith has been well documented. He went from flaming out as a possible franchise quarterback, to nothing more than a longtime backup, to a Pro Bowler who completed an historic season and was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year. Is video game star next?
For the most important question of all, what did his remarkable 2022 season do for Geno Smith the video game character? That’s right. The real person received respect, accolades and even a new big contract as his reward for leading the Seattle Seahawks to the playoffs last year, but what did all of that do for his Madden rating?
NFL players can say they don’t care about their Madden ratings, but they do. And Smith now carries a 2024 Madden rating of 81. This is a jump from any of his ratings in the past, especially when he was either just entering the league or barely playing as a backup.

Smith is one point back of Trevor Lawrence and this rating still does leave him significantly behind quarterbacks regarded as members of an elite group of top tier players. Smith is the 12th highest rated quarterback in the game.
For example, Patrick Mahomes is in the exclusive 99 club for the third time in his career, Josh Allen is next up at 95, followed by Joe Burrow at 94. Other notable quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson (90) and Aaron Rodgers (89) round out the top five.
In a related story, Geno Smith modeled the Seattle Seahawks’ new old school style throwback uniforms.
