Geno Smith has been blessed with good news and a career resurgence since being arrested for a DUI back in January of 2022. He now can add more good news to the list as he is not going to face charges for that arrest.

Brady Henderson of ESPN was first to report the news that the King County Prosecutor’s Office is declining to file charges against the reigning NFL Comeback Player of the Year. It’s also been reported that the reason a decision took so long occurred due to a backlog of blood tests with the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab.

Seahawks QB Geno Smith Named NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year

At the time of the incident, Smith’s blood alcohol level registered at .038, which is well below the legal limit of .08.

Smith is now preparing his second straight season as Seattle’s full-time starting quarterback and hoping to continue where he left off during the 2022 season.

The WVU legend is coming off a season in which he threw for 4,282 yards with 30 touchdowns and only 11 interceptions. He completed a league-leading 69.8% of his passes, posted an 100.9 rating overall and also ran for 366 yards and scored a touchdown on the ground. Smith’s individual success allowed the Seahawks to reach the postseason as a Wild Card.

At one point, Smith’s season reached historic levels in terms of efficiency, tying an NFL record for the most consecutive games completing at least 60% of his passes and doing it with an 80 or better rating. The only other quarterbacks to ever be that consistent efficient for as many games in a row in one season are Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers.

While in Las Vegas at the Pro Bowl, Smith put his season into perspective during a chat with our Mike Asti.

All of that earned Geno Smith a new contract to stay in Seattle and a spot on the NFL’s Top 100 list.
