Kaleb Gray transferred to WVU Football in May 2025 following the spring practice period, adding depth to a secondary that struggled mightily last season. He began his college career with two seasons at the JUCO level, breaking into the starting lineup at Dodge City Community College in 2024.
A 6-foot-1, 174 pound safety, Gray can play for up to four more years in college thanks to an NCAA ruling giving renewed eligibility to former JUCO athletes. It will almost certainly take him time to adjust from community college to Power Four.

Last year: After taking a redshirt year in 2023, Gray broke into the starting lineup at Dodge City Community College, showing a nose for the football.
Stats: Gray racked up 32 tackles, five passes broken up and three forced fumbles across nine starts.
Camp outlook: West Virginia did what they could to overhaul their secondary in the offseason, bringing in a series of transfers from lower levels of the sport like JUCO or FCS. That gives Gray a chance to compete for playing time, but he could struggle against his more experienced teammates.
Projected role: Expect Gray to take another developmental year learning the ropes. He could get some playing time, but likely not a starting role.
Accolades, highlights: With three forced fumbles in just nine games played, Gray could turn into a turnover producing machine as continues to grow as a player.
