WVU Football Mountaineers against Oklahoma Sooners

The Mountaineers are right back in the conference race after dominating BYU, but that doesn’t mean oddsmakers are high on West Virginia this week.

A week after being a big favorite and coming through against the Cougars, WVU now opens the new week as a significant underdog to Oklahoma. The Sooners are 12.5-point favorites on most sportsbooks and have as much as a 13-point edge on Circa Sports.

WVU now sits at 6-3 and 4-2 in Big 12 play. And while West Virginia is already bowl eligible, the focus for Neal Brown and his players is to win as many games as possible throughout the final stretch of the season.

WVU Football Reaches Bowl Eligibility with Rout of BYU

After seeming like a lock to play in the Big 12 Championship Game in their final season in the conference before departing for the SEC, Oklahoma has now lost back-to-back games. The Sooners are now 7-2, but also 4-2 in the conference.

West Virginia, who has won two in a row on the season, will be looking for a win over the Sooners for the second consecutive year after beating Oklahoma in Morgantown last season. At the time, the 2022 game marked WVU’s first win over Oklahoma with both members of the Big 12. The Sooners will be hungry for revenge and to close out the school’s tenure in the conference with a win streak.

Most importantly, the winner of this game will keep their hopes alive and still have a path to compete for the conference title while the loser will most likely be eliminated from finishing as one of the top two teams in the Big 12.

Kickoff is set for 7 pm ET and the game will be televised on FOX.
