The Associated Press released their preseason poll for men’s basketball. Five teams represent the Big 12 Conference in the initial rankings.

Big 12 AP Poll Rankings:

T-5. Baylor

T-5. Kansas

12. Texas

14. TCU

25. Texas Tech

Last week, the Big 12 Conference released their preseason poll with Baylor voted in as No. 1. The Bears return a core of guards LJ Cryer, Adam Flagler and Big 12 DPOY Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua. Baylor also added talented freshman Keyonte George, as well as transfers Jalen Bridges (WVU) and Caleb Lohner (BYU). Scott Drew has Baylor in a prime position to go deep in March once again.

Reigning national champion Kansas flips the majority of their roster surrounding Jalen Wilson. Bill Self and his coaching staff brought in a talented freshman class and Kevin McCullar from Texas Tech.

During the offseason, Texas paired ISU transfer Tyrese Hunter with Marcus Carr to form one of the best backcourts in the country. Both players are reliant on the ball so it’ll be interesting how they manage playing with each other.

TCU brings back their entire starting five from an NCAA Tournament team last year. Guard Mike Miles Jr. was named the Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year.

Again Mark Adams recruited well in the transfer portal bringing in Fardaws Aimaq (Utah Valley), De’Vion Harmon (Oregon) and Kerwin Walton (North Carolina). Red Raiders will be without Aimaq for the time being with a foot injury, but expect them to be competitive in 2022-23.
