WVU Football Recruiting
Recent Top WVU Football RB Commit Flips to SEC School
Just nine days after proclaiming his commitment to WVU Football, Khamoni Williams has flipped to an SEC school. The top running back prospect committed to Auburn on Sunday, taking away one member of West Virginia’s 2027 on the same day two other players were added.
Williams, listed at 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds, is a product of Southwind High School in Memphis, Tenn. His commitment comes after spending a weekend in Morgantown for an official visit from May 29-31.
A consensus three-star recruit, Williams initially picked the Mountaineers over offers from Colorado, Florida State, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Pitt, Purdue, USC, Wisconsin and others in addition to the Tigers. But as is often the case in this era of recruiting, no player is locked in until they sign.
Williamsโ monster production as both a sophomore and junior led to his popularity as a recruit. He racked up 1,151 yards and scored 13 touchdowns on 125 carries in only eight games in 2024, averaging 143.9 yards per game.
Williams then ran for 892 yards and seven touchdowns on only 85 carries as a junior in 2025.
