The London Lions, from the British Basketball League, announced on Tuesday morning that former WVU guard Tarik Phillip has signed with the team. Phillip is getting prepared to begin his sixth professional season.

Phillip last played in Italy and Spain during the 2021-22 basketball season.

Phillip played at West Virginia from 2014-17, helping the Mountaineers reach the Sweet-16 twice. In his senior season, the Big 12 awarded Phillip with the sixth man of the year. Phillip averaged 9.5 points on 40% shooting from the field and 38% from three.

In 2019, Phillip signed with the Washington Wizards to compete during the NBA Summer League. During that summer, Phillip averaged 5.7 points, 1.2 assists and one steal in four games. Phillip has played in Hungary, Spain, Turkey and Israel during his international career. The Brooklyn native played for Best Virginia, WVU’s alumni team, in the 2021 TBT.

Phillip joins Logan Routt as another ex-Mountaineer to sign with a professional team recently. Routt is heading to Japan to play for Kagoshima Levnize.
