Top 5 Quarterbacks West Virginia will face in 2018

No.2 – Sam Ehlinger, Texas

In 7 starts as a true freshman, Sam Ehlinger slowly began to win over head coach Tom Herman, who likewise was new to the Texas program. Many expected returning quarterback Shane Buechele to continue to develop and improve, but lost his job once he started battling with a nagging shoulder injury and inconsistent play. Ehlinger also offers more size at 6’2″ 230 lbs and has the ability to run, but would much rather hangout in the pocket.

At times, Ehlinger would show flashes of being one of the best quarterbacks in the league then all of a sudden he would look like a true freshman, which is expected. In 2017, he threw for 1,915 yards and 11 touchdowns, but also threw 7 interceptions and a completion rate that he hopes to improve on (57.5%). If Tom Herman can get him going, all of a sudden Texas may actually have a legitimate chance to contend for a spot in the Big XII championship game in Dallas.
