Mountaineers send offer out to Louisiana athlete

Last week, West Virginia sent a plethora of offers out including one to Louisiana athlete, Fred Kelly (6’0″ 180 lbs) of General Trass High School. Kelly also holds offers from Troy, Illinois State, UMass and Toledo among a few others.

He is one of the more underrated two way players in the state of Louisiana,  he can attack the ball at its highest point with ease and is one of the most sure tacklers I’ve seen on tape. Kelly projects well at either receiver or corner, but I see his highest ceiling as a defensive back. This young recruit with raw talent has the ability to develop into a very solid coverage defender.

Kelly describes his relationship with corner backs coach, Doug Belk as “new” by saying, “Our relationship is at a good pace, but I am still getting to know him. Great relationships with the coaches, fitting in with other players, a great education and good facilities are all important to me.”

Kelly informed me that he does not have a date set to visit West Virginia at the moment, but will “definitely” be getting that taken care of relatively soon. In the meantime, he does have visits set up at Mississippi State, Louisiana Tech, Tulane, Grambling St, LSU and Tulane.
