Watch: Randy Mazey Enjoys Hearing ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ in Switzerland
Even while living his best life on vacation, Randy Mazey has West Virginia on his mind. And lucky for him, the reach of the Mountaineers extends all over the world.
Mazey’s wife Amanda posted a video of her husband recording a street band singing “Take Me Home, Country Roads” in Murren, Switzerland. “A little Country Roads in Murren Switzerland? Coach Mazey approves!! Let’s go!!,” she said on X (formerly Twitter).
A day later, the former WVU baseball head coach offered his own thoughts on the cool turn of events.
“Even in Switzerland? Seriously? I bet Wammer a dollar that they would sing Country Roads. I won. Unbelievable how far reaching the Mountaineers are! Let’s GOOO!!!,” he added.

There are two main takeaways from this. First, Mazey is enjoying retirement. Second, and equally as important, hearing one particular song will always make any Mountaineer feel at home no matter where they are.
In Mazey’s final season in 2024, Mazey led West Virginia to new heights as the Mountaineers reached an NCAA Super Regional for the first time in program history. Overall, WVU finished the season 36-24 which included going 3-0 in the NCAA Tucson Regional. He was named the 2024 ABCA East Region Coach of the Year.

For the eighth consecutive year, the Mountaineers were in ranked in the Top 25, climbing into the top 15 in multiple polls to end the season.
In 12 seasons with West Virginia, Randy Mazey went 372-274 and was a two-time Big 12 Coach of the Year in addition to his regional honors. Overall, in 18 seasons as a head coach, Mazey went 558-434-2.
