WVU sends an offer to a transfer defensive back drawing tons of attention from major programs across the country.

Anthony Wilson, a 5-foot-10, 200-pound Georgia Southern transfer, now can add an official offer from West Virginia to his list of teams to consider. Wilson has had talks with over 10 schools since entering the portal on Tuesday.

Wilson, a multi-time All-Sun Belt selection as a three-year starter at Georgia Southern, posted 101 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and an interception as a redshirt junior this past season. His tackle total was the third-most by any defensive back at the FBS level.

He has two years left of eligibility due to being part of the 2020 COVID-19 year. Some of the major programs the Mountaineers are competing with in their pursuit of Wilson include UCF, Louisville, Tennessee, Purdue, Minnesota, Pitt, Cincinnati, Duke, SMU and Tulane.

The Columbia, South Carolina native is considered a physical corner who’s capable of also excelling in coverage.

WVU head coach Neal Brown has made it known he is looking to add more secondary help through the portal for this coming season. The offer to Wilson comes just days after West Virginia earned a commitment from Minnesota transfer Beanie Bishop.
