While players have been announcing their intentions to transfer all week, one player who is leaving a Big 12 program stands out due to his ties to West Virginia. The possibility to try to bring Morgantown native and UCF transfer offensive lineman Marcellus Marshall home now exists again.

Marshall (6-foot-5, 310 pounds) instantly becomes a player to keep an eye on due to the possibility he could want to finish out his college career by experiencing a year as a Mountaineer. Of course, if WVU would be interested in pursuing Marshall depends largely on who ends up as their new head coach, but he’s an interesting available option nonetheless.

Below is what Marshall said when revealing his plans to move on from UCF.

“To UCF and Knight Nation: Thank you for the memories, relationships, and opportunities you have given me over the past two years. Thank you, Coach Malzahn for the opportunity to play and lead at this team. Coach Hand thank you for all that you have done for me and the life lessons you have taught me. To my teammates and the staff, thank you for making this program feel like family.

With that being said, after much prayer and reflection, I am announcing my decision to enter the transfer portal with 1 year of eligibility remaining. My recruitment is 100% open, and Iโ€™m excited to see what God has in store for me in this next step of life. Thank you all for the continued support.”

Marshall has appeared in every game for UCF during his two seasons in Orlando.

Marshall was a three-star recruit out of Morgantown High School in 2020 and ranked as the No. 5 player in West Virginia by On3 Sports. He initially committed to Kent State and then transferred to UCF before the 2023 season. WVU extended an offer to Marshall as a transfer in December 2022.
