Announced Wednesday afternoon, West Virginia basketball will open the 2020-21 season by playing in the Crossover Classic held in South Dakota.

The Mountaineers’ first opponent in the Crossover Classic will be the Texas A&M Aggies on Nov. 25. It will be the first meeting between the teams since no. 25 TAMU upset no. 11 WVU on Nov. 11, 2017 88-65.

The Aggies finished last season 16-14, 10-8 in SEC play and won five of their final seven games. They would have played Missouri in the first round of the SEC Tournament.

The Aggies’ top returners this season are junior Savion Flagg, senior Quenton Jackson and sophomore Emanuel Miller. Flagg averaged 10.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game last season. He shot 41.3% from the floor and 37% from deep and led the team with 75 assists.

Jackson averaged 8.8 points on 36.6% shooting and was second on the team with 36 steals. Miller led the team in rebounding with 6.3 per game while averaging 6.4 points.

Texas A&M is led by second-year head coach Buzz Williams. Williams was the head coach at Marquette from 2008-2014 and the head coach at Virginia Tech from 2014-2019 before joining the Aggies.

WVU and TAMU are scheduled to tip off at 2 p.m. EST on Nov. 25 from the Sanford Pentagon in South Dakota.
