WVU big Jimmy Bell has entered his name into the transfer portal on Friday afternoon, Verbal Commits confirmed. Bell leaves West Virginia after one season.

Bell (6-foot-10) started in all 34 games for the Mountaineers this past season, averaging 4.8 points and 5.2 rebounds. Bell joined WVU’s team last spring after a stint in JUCO ball at Moberly Area CC. Bell started his collegiate career off at Saint Louis.

After this past season, Bell joined the football team in the spring to give it a try after being talked to by scouts during the Big 12 Tournament. WVU head coach Neal Brown let Bell go on a trial run during the spring and Bell participated for a few weeks. Bell made an appearance in the spring game as well.

Sources tell WVSN that Bell’s entry into the portal includes both basketball and football in the database.

West Virginia’s basketball roster is now down to 13 players. Syracuse transfer Jesse Edwards, as well as returning bigs Mohamed Wague and James Okonkwo, currently are the centers on the roster.

WVSN will keep you up to date on West Virginia’s basketball recruiting this offseason. It appears as if the coaching staff is not done in the portal still.
