WVU CB Charles Woods Out At least Two Weeks, Trying to Return This Season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – Each and every week since suffering an injury, cornerback Charles Woods’ status becomes more and more clear. West Virginia head coach Neal Brown, who had previously been hesitant to reveal just how long Woods would be out, responded to a question during his weekly press conference on Monday by saying his star cornerback will be out at least two more weeks.

Brown was noncommittal to rule Woods out leading up to the Kansas game, and while he did make Woods’ status known days before kickoff against Towson, this is the first time Brown has actually put any kind of timetable on Woods’ potential return. “Potential” return is key too because Brown also said, “he wants to comeback” when talking about Woods injury. Brown made sure to classify Woods’ injury as “not a normal” one, which seemed to play into why his recovery schedule is unknown.

It’s believed Woods had surgery on his injured ankle last week, but that has also never been said directly by the program. Multiple reports and an instagram picture with Woods and his doctor lend credence to the surgery.

Woods had to be helped off the field early in the Backyard Brawl in Pittsburgh on September 1.
