In an effort to help retool their defensive line of the future, the WVU football staff extended an offer to Yahya Gaad. The Tennessee native and three-star recruit posted about his new offer on social media on Monday.

West Virginia’s defensive line coach William Green called Gaad to let him know about the Mountaineers’ interest.

Gaad (6-foot-5, 260 pounds), a 2026 prospect out of South Gibson County High School in Medina, Tenn, also has offers from big brand programs like Florida State, Georgia, Texas and Washington. He also has offers from major programs Arizona, Michigan State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Indiana and Vanderbilt. For a notable Group of 5 school, Tulane has also offered Gaad.

Considered a three-star by Rivals, Gaad is ranked as the No. 35 player defensive lineman. He’s viewed as a defensive end/edge rusher at the college level by most national outlets. Gaad has experience at tight end as well.
