WVU Football offers transfer QB Hauss Hejny

No matter what happens with the WVU football roster moving forward, there’s always one position more important than any other – quarterback. And with Rich Rodriguez back at the helm of the Mountaineers, many are wondering if he plans to stick with incumbent Nicco Marchiol or go searching for an immediate upgrade.

While Marchiol is still on the roster, WVU is also reaching out to transfer quarterbacks as well. To that end, TCU transfer quarterback Hauss Hejny heard from West Virginia the first day he entered the portal on Monday.

WVU is also just one of several major programs to contact Hejny or his agent. BYU, JMU, UCF, Utah and Utah State are some of the other schools to show interest in Hejny, based on what his agent Dusty Stanfield told Chris Hummer of 247 Sports. This information was then conformed and supported by Hejny on social media.

But just because West Virginia might be interested in Hejny, that doesn’t mean he would be automatically be the guy over Marchiol. A four-star recruit out of Aledo High School in Aledo, Texas, Hejny appeared in just four games in 2024 and never threw a single pass. However, he was used as a runner, totaling 65 yards on 15 carries.

Hejny ranked as the No. 201 overall player and No. 12 quarterback among 2024 prospects via 247 Sports. West Virginia initially offered Hejny in February of 2023.

It’s possible his dual-threat ability and athleticism could lead to Hejny having tremendous success in a Rodriguez offense.
