WVU 2022 signee Josiah Davis plans to arrive on campus in August, he tells WV Sports Now. Davis, a guard out of Teays Valley, W. Va., signed his National Letter of Intent with West Virginia back in November.

As of July 8, West Virginia has 13 scholarship players on campus with eight newcomers joining five returnees from last year’s team.

Davis finished his senior season leading Teays Valley Christian School to a NACA National Championship. In the title game, the Ontario native dropped 34 points with 11 rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks.

“One of the greatest feelings as a high school basketball player, the feeling is so real,” he said. “The team and I have had a hell of a year with injuries and sickness and other things. Not a lot of people would expect us to do what we did especially with a schedule that we had for a Christian school but God stood by our side and allowed us to bring home the championship trophy and banner!”

Through 25 games, Davis led the Lions with 19.0 points per game. On top of that, Davis averaged 9.4 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 2.2 steals and 0.9 blocks.

Davis, along with Josiah Harris, were the two high school recruits for West Virginia’s 2022 class. Davis first committed to West Virginia in February 2021. WVU’s class ranks 58th in the country and seventh in the Big 12, according to 247 Sports.
