The Mountaineers have gained a commitment from a local product.

University High School’s Jaeden Hammack tweeted a graphic on Thursday afternoon to announce his decision to commit to WVU. Hammack is not only a West Virginia native, but played high school football right in Morgantown.

Listed at 6’1″, 165 pounds, Hammack labels himself as an “ATH,” which stands for athlete, but has experience at both wide receiver and cornerback. MaxPreps ranks Hammack as the number 21 player in the state.

He was selected as a first-team All-State and first-team All-Conference player in West Virginia’s class AAA for his senior season in 2022. Hammack was also heavily recruited by Sacred Heart and Fairmont State, but has decided to take the opportunity of trying to find a role with a bigger program like WVU.
