2025 National Championship Odds Open for WVU Basketball

As a new era for WVU Basketball begins, National Championship odds for the 2024-25 season opened up on Tuesday following UConn’s win over Purdue to end the season. West Virginia opens at +12000 odds to become the national champion during the 2025 season, which is tied for ninth in the Big 12, according to BetOnline.
Bettors would have to put down $100 to win $12,000 if the Mountaineers pulled it off next spring.

West Virginia will have a new look all around the program next season. WVU hired Drake’s Darian DeVries to take over the team as head coach. DeVries is still filling out the rest of his bench but does have two commitments: one being his son Tucker DeVries, and an ex-Drake commit KJ Tenner from the 2024 high school class.
The Mountaineers have lost three players to the transfer portal with Josiah Harris (F), Kerr Kriisa (G), Patrick Suemnick (F), and Seth Wilson (G) reopening their recruitments. 2024 WVU commit Carmelo Adkins also requested a release of his NLI as he looks at other options.
WVU Basketball currently has seven open scholarship spots as of Thursday.
Editorโs note: To put this into historical context, the WVU basketball program has claimed the 1942 season as a national championship. At that time, the NIT was viewed as the better national tournament with the better teams. But other than that, West Virginia has never won a national title. Jerry West led the Mountaineers to the NCAA Tournament championship game in 1959 and WVU also made the Final Four in 2010 as the next closest seasons to the ultimate prize. – Mike Asti
