49ers Award Contract Extension to Former Mountaineer Colton McKivitz
The San Francisco 49ers have awarded former Mountaineer and current NFL mainstay Colton McKivitz with a new contract extension, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter via the Wasserman Football Agency.
McKivitz, who was set to be a free agent at the end of the 2025 season, now has a new three-year, $45 million extension that includes $27 million guaranteed. He’s now locked up as a 49er until 2028.
After a stellar college career as a Mountaineer, McKivitz was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 5th round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
McKivitz has been a full-time starter since 2023, starting every possible game since and helping San Francisco reach Super Bowl LVIII.
During his time in Morgantown, McKivitz was named the co-Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year as a junior. In 2019, he was named a first-team All-Big 12 player.
