WVU Bringing in Three Specialists to Supplement Recruiting Class
In addition to the 18 recruits that signed with WVU during the early signing period Wednesday, the Mountaineers are also bringing in three specialists in the 2020 class.
Long Snapper Austin Brinkman, kicker/punters Danny King and Kaulin Parris will all be joining the Mountaineers next season.
Brinkman verbally committed to WVU at the beginning of December. He is from Bel Air, Maryland and played at the John Carroll School. Brinkman is joining West Virginia as a preferred walk-on.

WVU lost its starting long snapper this season, Rex Sunahara, to graduation and will need to replace the Patrick Mannelly Award nominee moving forward. Brinkman will join senior Kyle Poland and sophomore J.P. Hadley as the longsnappers on WVU’s roster.
King is a high-rated specialist from Cumberland, Maryland and played at Fort Hill High School. He verbally committed to WVU in June and told WVSN he believes that he is redshirting his first year.

The website Kornblue Kicking rates King as a five-star kicker-punter and the fourth-best specialist recruit in the class. King told WVSN that he is coming to WVU just to kick. Currently WVU has starting kicker Evan Staley and back-up Casey Legg on the roster.
Kaulin Parris, a native of Bluefield, West Virginia, is staying in-state by coming to WVU. He was high school teammates with signee Sean Martin. He verbally committed to WVU in July.

Prokicker.com rates Parris as a four-star kicker/punter and awarded him the Ray Guy Top Prospect Award. Parris told WVSN that he is being brought in as a combo guy, but moreso for punting than kicking. Kolton McGhee is the only combo kicker/punter on WVU’s roster and Evan Matthes and Leighton Bechdel are the punters. starting punter Josh Growden graduated following the season.
