SDSU Transfer Elijah Saunders Contacted by West Virginia
San Diego State transfer Elijah Saunders has been contacted by West Virginia, he told WV Sports Now and The Portal Report. Saunders is a 6-foot-8 forward from Phoenix, Az.
Saunders is also hearing from Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, LSU, Miami (FL), Ohio State, Texas, Virginia, Washington and others since entering the transfer portal.
Saunders has spent the last two seasons at SDSU, playing in 53 games for the Aztecs. Saunders was a part of the national runner-up team from 2023. This season, Saunders appeared in 37 games and started 21. Saunders averaged 6.2 points and 3.6 rebounds on 42% shooting. Saunders’ best overall game occurred vs. Washington in November, recording 16 points and eight rebounds.
Saunders has two years of eligibility remaining.
West Virginia has lostย Josiah Harrisย (F),ย Seth Wilsonย (G),ย Patrick Suemnickย (F),ย Kerr Kriisaย (G),ย Jeremiah Bembryย (G),ย Kobe Johnsonย (G),ย Ali Ragabย (C) andย Noah Farrakhanย (G) to the transfer portal so far.
Under Darian DeVries, WVU has picked up Tucker DeVries (G – Drake), Sencire Harris (G – Illinois), Amani Hansberry (F – Illinois) and Toby Okani (F – UIC) in the transfer portal.
The transfer portal entry window closes next Wednesday on May 1. Players just need to be entered by then and can extend their recruitment as long as they want to.
