Former WVU F Oscar Tshiebwe Wins 2022 SEC Player of the Year
On Tuesday morning, the Southeastern Conference announced that Kentucky forward Oscar Tshiebwe won the 2022 SEC Player of the Year award. Tshiebwe played at West Virginia from 2019-2020.

In 31 games for the Wildcats, Tshiebwe averaged 17.3 points, 15.3 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. Tshiebwe shot 60 percent from the field in his first season at Lexington. The 6-foot-9 big man was also named to the All-SEC First Team and the All-SEC Defensive Team.

Tshiebwe transferred from West Virginia on New Year’s Eve in 2020, on a bad note. WVU head coach Bob Huggins said that Tshiebwe just left in a van after the previous game and went to Kentucky without having any closure. Tshiebwe played 41 games for the Mountaineers, averaging 10.6 points and 8.9 rebounds.
