The mark Madisen Smith has been leaving on the West Virginia women’s basketball program in her final season was recognized by the Big 12 this week.

Smith was announced as the Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday. This honor comes after Smith turned up her game as the calendar turned to March. She averaged 26 points, six rebounds, four assists and shot 53.1 percent from the field in two big victories for the Mountaineers.

Smith’s 22 points in the win over Oklahoma was only to be outdone by setting a new career-high in points in a game with 30 on the road at Baylor, leading WVU to a 63-52 win. She also added eight rebounds and seven assists in the win in Waco.

Despite a stellar career at WVU, this is the first time Smith has been named Big 12 Player of the Week. She was awarded Freshman of the Week three times in 2019.
