West Virginia Basketball has picked up transfer recruiting over the past week, securing three new players. WVU HC Darian DeVries is now a month into the job and still has work to do for next year’s roster.

Let’s take a look at West Virginia’s current roster for the 2024-25 season.

Tucker DeVries, G/F
Amani Hansberry, F
Sencire Harris, G
Ofri Naveh, G/F
Toby Okani, F
Aden Tagaloa-Nelson, G
KJ Tenner, G

WVU F Ofri Naveh remains as the only scholarship player left from last season’s team as Noah Farrakhan is expected to hit the transfer portal. Farrakhan averaged 7.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists through 23 games for the Mountaineers.

On Thursday, WVU received a commitment from UIC transfer wing Toby Okani. Okani, a 6-foot-8 wing, averaged 11.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.0 blocks through 33 games.

Okani joins a transfer class of Tucker DeVries (F – Drake), Amani Hansberry (F – Illinois) and Sencire Harris (G – Illinois).

West Virginia has lost Josiah Harris (F), Seth Wilson (G), Patrick Suemnick (F), Kerr Kriisa (G), Jeremiah Bembry (G), Kobe Johnson (G), Ali Ragab (C) and Farrakhan (G) to the transfer portal so far.

The transfer portal entry window closes next Wednesday on May 1. Players just need to be entered by then and can extend their recruitments as long as they want to. The NCAA has modified some of the rules with graduate transfers also needing to be in by the entry deadline. Usually, grad transfers would have all summer to enter the portal.

It’s good to see some signs of life in the portal this week! Hate to see Noah leave though,

We need at the very least a couple of 5s and true PG to compete. I have modest expectations for next season and really just want to see a disciplined, well coached team that plays as a team not a group of selfish showboats and goes hard 40 minutes every game.
