Breaking: Jose Perez to Return to West Virginia

Jose Perez

Jose Perez has announced that he will return to West Virginia after reopening his recruitment this month, as first reported by Joe Tipton of On3 Sports.

Perez was heavily recruited Cal, Gonzaga, Michigan, Oregon and others after entering the transfer portal on July 5.

Perez (6-foot-5) transferred to West Virginia in late October after Manhattan head coach Steve Masiello was let go two weeks before the season starting. Perez committed to WVU within days of entering the portal in hopes to play this past season. The Bronx, NY native sat out the entirety of the 2022-23 season after being denied a waiver by the NCAA.

Perez last played in the 2021-22 season with Manhattan, averaging 18.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists. Perez shot 40 percent from the field. Perez was named the Preseason MAAC Player of the Year.

Before Manhattan, Perez previously played at Gardner Webb and Marquette. Perez has one year of eligibility remaining.
