Schertz, a new mid-major darling, coached Indiana State to a 28-6 record, winning the Missouri Valley regular season title. Schertz was also named the conference’s Coach of the Year and is being recognized as in the running for College Basketball National Coach of the Year Award as well.
The Sycamores earned the 1-seed in the NIT Tournament that begins this week.
Schertz would replace Travis Ford, who was let go earlier this week.
WV Sports Now will continue to provide updates on the coaching carousel around the country, including WVU’s search.
