Geno Smith Cashes in After Big Game to Close Season
Geno Smith didn’t earn a playoff birth this season, but he ended his season a big winner nonetheless. Smith’s performance in Seattle’s regular season finale unlocked $6 million in incentives in his contract.
On Sunday, Smith led the Seahawks to a 30-25 win over the Los Angeles Rams while throwing for 223 yards, completing 74.1% of his passes and tossing a career-high four touchdowns.
Five years ago, Geno Smith was released and signed as a backup QB.
Two years later, he was a Pro Bowler and won Comeback Player of the Year.

Geno is just the best!! If he ever retires and comes back to WVU, we’d welcome him with a red carpet, open arms and empty our bank accounts! He’s also been one of the best human beings God ever put on a sports field anywhere. We love you, Geno! Always will.
