MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – All-time great college basketball coach Roy Williams is in attendance in Morgantown to watch a Big 12 matchup between the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Iowa State Cyclones.

Williams met with WVU head coach Bob Huggins about 40 minutes before the game.

Since retirement from coaching in 2021, Williams has traveled around the country watching his former players in the NBA and in college basketball. Williams wanted to make a trip to the WVU Coliseum and catch a game.

Williams coached at Kansas (1988-2003) and North Carolina (2003-21), winning three National Championships with UNC. Williams is fifth on the all-time wins list for coaching, as Huggins passed him back in November. Williams was inducted in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007.
