One of the strangest WVU basketball careers has reached its end, as Jayden Stone will transfer to Missouri. Tobias Bass from The Athletic was first with the news.

Jayden Stone came to WVU as a high-scoring guard from Detroit Mercy, but sat out the entire season due to an undisclosed injury. Stone appeared in the Mountaineers’ charity exhibition against Charleston, scoring two points in 19 minutes, but coach Darian DeVries announced he would miss the beginning of the season with an injury.

No update on Stone’s injury was ever given as the Mountaineers progressed further and further into the season and Stone missed more and more games. Stone eventually began going through pregame warmups prior to a handful of conference games mid-way through the season, but he never played and was routinely absent from the WVU bench area during contests. Eventually, Stone stopped being present in the WVU Coliseum altogether.

Stoneย transferred in from Detroit Mercy last offseason after being one of the top scorers in the country in 2023-24. His 20.8 points per game not only led the Titans but also ranked 22nd in the nation. Because he did not appear in a game this season, Stone will be granted a medical redshirt to play one more season for Missouri.
