Mountaineers in the Pros
JJ Quinerly Holds Her Own in First Pro Matchup Against Caitlin Clark
Former star WVU guard JJ Quinerly took the court for the Dallas Wings as they played against the Indiana Fever in Indianapolis on Sunday in a 102-83 loss. The game marked the first time the first time guard Caitlin Clark shared the floor with Quinerly since the second round of the 2023 Women’s NCAA Tournament, where the WVU women’s basketball team took the Iowa Hawkeyes down to the wire in Iowa City.
Quinerly started the game for Dallas alongside 2025 No. 1 overall pick Paige Bueckers. Sunday’s game marked her fifth straight start for the Wings this season.
The former Mountaineer contributed five points in the first half, including a 30-foot three-pointer to put the Wings up 13-11 with 6:18 remaining in the first quarter.

Quinerly also made room for her teammates in the first half, dishing four assists. However, she finished the half with four turnovers and three fouls.
Quinerly left the second half quickly after being evaluated for a left rib injury while guarding Clark. She checked back in at the 2:02 mark and immediately went coast-to-coast for a layup off the inbounds pass.
She finished the game with 24 minutes, scoring 13 points on 6-11 shooting.
In her five starts, Quinerly has averaged 30.4 minutes, 15.8 points and a 51.3 shooting percentage.
Despite the Wings having a 6-16 record for 12th place in the WNBA, Quinerly has been a bright spot for the team. She has already made history this season, becoming the first third round pick since 1999 to tally at least 15 points in three straight games. The record-setting performances came in her first three starts this season.
Last time Quinerly faced off against Caitlin Clark the Mountaineers nearly upset the No. 1 seed Hawkeyes in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Quinerly finished with 15 points.
