JJ Wetherholt Continues Stacking Big Games, Mashes Two More HRs in Triple-A
Pushing for an MLB call up, JJ Wetherholt continues to mash minor league pitching. The WVU product has been stacking one big performance after another since being promoted to Triple-A.
A day after crushing his second Triple-A home run and raising his slash lines to .429/.520/.952, Wetherholt mashed two more on Wednesday. His first led off the game.

The Cardinals’ top prospect now owns a jaw-dropping 1.521 OPS in eight games with the Memphis Redbirds.
Wetherholt also had a four- hit game on July 18.

He was promoted from Springfield to Memphis following his first multi-homer game and being named to the National League roster for the MLB All-Star Futures Game, where Wetherholt went 1-for-4 with a double that led off the game.
The St. Louis Cardinals selected Wetherholt with the seventh overall pick in 2024, the highest selection in WVU baseball history. He helped the Mountaineers to an NCAA Super Regional appearance during his final season, setting a series of program records at the plate after breaking out during the 2023 campaign.
Wetherholt began the 2025 season in Double-A and recorded seven home runs, 34 RBI, 44 walks and 14 stolen bases before moving up to Triple-A. He helped the Cardinals’ Single-A affiliate win the Florida State League championship in 2024, logging the game-winning hit.
