West Virginia transfer Jose Perez has scheduled a visit with Michigan as WVU staff is actively trying to recruit him back. Perez will be in Ann Arbor from July 28-30, Joe Tipton reports.

Perez hasn’t scheduled anymore visits but is trying to take trips to Cal, Gonzaga and Oregon. Xavier is the latest school to enter Perez’s recruitment as of this week. Since entering the portal on July 5, Perez has expressed interest in returning to West Virginia. WVU interim head coach Josh Eilert and his staff believe Perez can receive starting minutes at the Big 12 level in Morgantown.

Georgia Tech and Oklahoma are other notable schools that have reached out.

Perez (6-foot-5) transferred to West Virginia in late October after Manhattan head coach Steve Masiello was let go two weeks before the season started. Perez committed to WVU within days of entering the portal in hopes to play this past season. The Bronx, NY native sat out the entirety of the 2022-23 season after being denied a waiver by the NCAA.

Perez last played in the 2021-22 season with Manhattan, averaging 18.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists. Perez shot 40 percent from the field. Perez was named the Preseason MAAC Player of the Year. Before Manhattan, Perez previously played at Gardner Webb and Marquette.

Perez is on-pace to become a graduate transfer this summer, making him immediately eligible for next season. Perez has one year of eligibility remaining.
