A limited number of fans will be allowed at the men’s and women’s Big 12 basketball tournaments in Kansas City next month, the Kansas City Sports Commission announced Friday.

Up to 20% of capacity will be permitted to attend Big 12 Tournament games at the T-Mobile Center for the men and Municipal Arena for the women. 20% capacity would be a little under 4,000 fans at the T-Mobile center and just over 2,000 at Municipal Arena.

“Both venues have been working with and will continue to work with the Kansas City Health Department to make sure health and safety of all staff, guests and student-athletes is primary,” said Kathy Nelson, President/CEO of the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission. “In accordance with NCAA guidance, the Big 12 conference has put together a very detailed plan on student-athlete health and safety in cooperation with their medical team and the Kansas City, MO Health Department.”

The men’s tournament is scheduled to start on March 10 with the championship on March 13. The women’s tournament is scheduled to be played from March 11-14. The WVU men’s team currently sits in a tie for fourth place in the Big 12 with Texas, each with a 7-4 conference record. The women’s team is currently second in the Big 12 with a 10-3 conference record.
