2024 4-star guard Del Jones received an offer from West Virginia on Friday afternoon. Jones, a top-70 player in his class, currently plays at Huntington Prep.

Jones talked with WV Sports Now shortly after West Virginia assistant DerMarr Johnson extended an offer.

“I was really excited to get the offer,” he said. “I am really familiar with coach [DerMarr Johnson] with him being from home and knowing some of the people. I know coach and I have been talking for a while now. I can’t wait to come visit the school.”

Jones (6-foot-3, 170 pounds) has received offers from Akron, Bryant, George Washington, Mississippi State, NC State, Ohio, Old Dominion, Oregon, Rutgers, San Diego, South Carolina, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas A&M, UCF and West Virginia.

Jones took an unofficial visit to Tennessee in September.

Johnson, who was hired by Bob Huggins in January, has big connections in the DMV area. Jones is originally from Arlington, Va.

“I’ve got a lot of connections,” Johnson said. “I think that part will be easier for me because I know so many people from the DC area. I’ve got so many people that want to help me.”

There has not been a date set for Jones to visit West Virginia but the junior guard is excited to check out campus in the future.
