Following the NBA Draft, teams are signing undrafted free agents and inviting prospects to the summer league circuit. Ex-WVU forward Tre Mitchell was invited to the summer league by the Oklahoma City Thunder, as old-Kentucky HC John Calipari posted.

“Tre Mitchell was invited to be with OKC for summer league. He’s a great connector and will fight for his space!,” Calipari wrote.

Mitchell (6-foot-9) appeared in all 34 games for West Virginia this past season. The UMass/Texas transfer averaged 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds on 47 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent from three. Mitchell was a consistent starter who helped return WVU to the NCAA Tournament. Following Bob Huggins’ resignation, Mitchell entered the transfer portal and decided to play his final year of eligibility at Kentucky. Mitchell recorded 10.7 points and 7.2 rebounds, helping the Wildcats to land a 3-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Other former Mountaineers Jalen Bridges, Jesse Edwards and RaeQuan Battle also received good news this week. Bridges signed a two-way deal with the Phoenix Suns. Edwards was signed by the Minnesota Timberwolves on a two-way deal just a few minutes after the NBA draft. Battle was invited by the Charlotte Hornets to the summer league on Friday.
