Pat, Samantha McAfee Announce Pregnancy, Detail Struggles of Long IVF Journey

It’s a day to celebrate in the McAfee family with the possibility of a future Mountaineer on the way.

Pat’s wife Samantha posted a message on Twitter on Wednesday to both reveal their personal journey and announce that she is pregnant, something that did not come easy and without hardship for the McAfee family.

“After about 150 shots, a surgery, a transfer, countless blood tests, waiting on embryos, genetic testing, hoping for a big fat positive on a pee stick. So much support from family & close friends. We are beyond happy & blessed to announce our double rainbow baby!,” she wrote as the tweet that corresponded the letter to go into more detail.

“For those of you who haven’t followed along with our parenthood journey, we have lost two pregnancies, I almost lost my life both times with eternal bleeding, resulting in losing both of my Fallopian tubes, which has caused us to not be able to conceive naturally,” is now Samantha started off her letter that then explained their path through IVF, something that has a difficult one and required her to receive 3 shots a day.

Fans of Pat see the former West Virginia kicker and NFL punter as a fun loving personality on his daily talk show and any of the other platforms like ESPN’s College GameDay and WWE, where he can be consumed as part of his ever-growing media empire. But this announcement lets everyone in on the personal struggle he has had to endure with his wife and family behind the scenes.

Pat added his own message as a reply to his wife’s letter, documenting all that went on and praising his wife for how she’s been handling it all. The host of the Pat McAfee Show also made sure to thank those in their circle for their support.

“From the emergency surgeries, both of which I was told that I might lose my wife (those were wild days) all the way thru this entire IVF process… you’ve been an absolute badass, Sam,” said Pat. “We appreciate the hell out of all of the support from our friends and family thru this all,” closed his message.

After many trials and tribulations, and likely tons of pain and sorrow we may never truly know about, Pat and Samantha McAfee will be welcoming a baby boy or girl into the world. And that now calls for a big “Let’s Go!” from all of Mountaineer Nation.
