Preseason AP Hoops Poll Released, Where Is WVU?

Published

on

The Associated Press released the preseason top 25 poll for the college basketball season, on Monday.

West Virginia does not appear in the top 25, or the receiving votes section.

This ends the 19-straight poll release that WVU appeared in the top 25, the first time since March 2, 2020. West Virginia appeared in every poll released for the 2020-21 season, with their highest ranking being at No. 6 and their lowest at No. 17.

The Big 12 has three schools voted in the top 25, with two in the receiving votes section. Kansas (No. 3), Texas (No. 5), Baylor (No. 8), Oklahoma State (RV) and Texas Tech (RV)

For the non-conference schedule, the Mountaineers have multiple opponents in the first release of the top 25, with Arkansas (No. 16), UCONN (No. 24) and potentially St. Bonaventure (No. 23).
